#JohnMasudParvez #CIO #Founder #President Digital transformation is a foundation of modern business, but established organizations often struggle with developing new, customer-centric business models. For incumbents, especially large companies, digital transformation involves simultaneously transforming corporate culture, digital technologies, and market strategies while maintaining existing revenue streams and processes. The challenge for business leaders is going beyond traditional digital transformation strategy to address business model innovation: nurturing new approaches and creating an agile organizational culture while driving long-term success for the established business. For this reason, John Masud Parvez uses business-building as the approach to business transformation. #JohnMasudParvez #CIO #Founder #President Whether it’s lack of resources, changing infrastructure or another roadblock, if your employer doesn’t currently offer formal professional development initiatives, fear not. There are several things you can do right now to learn, grow and move towards a fulfilling career. ➡️ Be hungry, not hangry How you approach opportunities and position yourself is just as impactful as how hard you work or what technical skills you develop. Most of us follow one of two instincts once we feel “stuck” in our job. We either look for an opportunity outside our current company or we stay and begin blaming the people and circumstances around us for limiting our ability to grow. But what if there’s a third way? What if instead of leaving or becoming bitter, you could unstick yourself? ➡️ Practice your talk show host skills The point is to learn from absolutely everyone. Don’t expect the people around you to make a priority of teaching you. While it’s reasonable that your teammates collaborate and offer help when necessary, not everyone in the organization has the same responsibility to you. It’s up to you to create a network of mentors and to soak up everything that you can by being bold, curious and engaging. ➡️ Network like your net worth depends on it Let your work speak for itself. If it’s not your direct supervisor or department head, don’t bring up your accomplishments. It doesn’t matter how humble you think your brag is; it’s tacky. You can, however, explain the nature of your role and what you hope to do as your next career move. Focus on the next step you’d like to take—something feasible in the short term—not your ultimate goal. This opens the door for people to connect you to current opportunities that they know of. And if you’ve shown your true character, they’ll have more confidence to recommend you. ➡️ Don’t let comparison derail you Remember that there is room for everyone at the table. Someone else’s success has nothing to do with you. While tempting, it’s unhelpful and inaccurate to believe that someone else’s win means your loss. We have a tendency to take on a “poverty mentality,” which suggests that we have to “fight” or compete for the opportunities we want. With this kind of perspective, it’s a zero-sum game, resulting in a constant and full tilt of the justice scale. Either you win or they win; no win-win can exist. ➡️ Prioritize your own professional development Your career success is your responsibility and no one else’s. Don’t expect someone to prioritize your development—even your manager. If you don’t, no one else will. ==== My LIFE: ➡️ In Professional life my a Chief Information Officer (CIO) / IT Director and my professional life's passion is to help my organization achieve bigger goals by adding values, digital empowerment, transforming the business model. ➡️ In my personal life's passion meet as many many possible people, solve their problem, and also help, guide them to achieve bigger goals in their life. #JohnMasudParvez #CIO #Founder #President Consciously, you know that you need to celebrate success at work. Celebration breeds more success and adds to the satisfaction you experience when you take note of your accomplishments in the workplace. ➡️ Reward the Small Successes When you land the $3 million contract, of course, you celebrate. But, what about the $300 one time customer? And what about getting the weekly report done early? You don’t want to throw a party with balloons and cake each time the weekly report goes out, or the customer calls are answered within two rings. The celebration would soon become tedious, and people would avoid succeeding in order to avoid embarrassment. Or, people would become immune to the joy of celebration because of its predictability and feelings of entitlement. But, you do need to celebrate some little things. Just like the baby who gets claps and cheers for their first few steps but not for every step they ever take, you need to celebrate the first successes. So, when you hire a new employee you celebrate the small accomplishments. The first time they finish a transaction on their own? Point out their success, “Great job. You did everything exactly right.” The first presentation, the first report, the first little success gets celebrated. ➡️ Everyone Make Mistakes Is a baby’s first step the same as a gold medalist sprinter's gait when they run the 100-meter dash? Of course not, but you still reward them. Point out the good and correct the bad. Make sure that you don’t try to force a feedback sandwich—where you’re making up positive things to sandwich the hard feedback you need to give. People see through that formula and learn to ignore your praise because anytime they receive praise, they know it's a prelude to criticism. But, if you’re sincere in your praise and helpful with your hard feedback, this can result in an employee who learns what she needs to know and makes changes when necessary. ➡️ Celebrating Group Success at Work In the business world, it’s often a team that creates a successful outcome, even if just one person’s name is on the project. Think about it—when you put together that great sales presentation that landed the big client, did you do it all by yourself? How Do You Celebrate Success in the Workplace? While you know you need to praise successes, sometimes the how is elusive. While celebrations need to reflect your company culture and the degree and contribution of the success, these ideas will help get you started celebrating success at work. ➡️ Use Verbal Praise: Sometimes just saying “Thank you. You did a great job.” is enough. Offering this praise in a public setting enhances the celebration and the employee's feeling of recognition. Make your praise specific and as timely as possible. Saying, “Good job with that customer last week” is nice, but what customer are you talking about? Instead, if you can’t say it at the moment, try to give details, “Do you remember that customer who complained about the thread count in the sheets? You did a great job helping her, ultimately getting her to make a purchase” ➡️ Provide Written Praise: A nice email to the individual can go a long way. A nice email to the whole group praising that employee's success can go even further. An email to an entire team that celebrates their success is amazingly effective in influencing future employee behavior and contributions ➡️ Hold a Celebration Party or Event: For bigger successes, a party is often appropriate. You don't have to provide an open bar and live entertainment kind of party, but a “Hey everyone, great job on the year-end reports. I know it was a long slog, and we had to work a lot of overtime to get them done accurately on time, but we did it. So, on Friday, we’re having a celebratory lunch. ➡️ Give and individual success. Those are great, but sometimes the bonuses are so detached from the actual work that they don’t seem like a celebration. Often, they become expectations, which means that they cease being a celebration at all and become a part of expected compensation—like every paycheck. Consider providing smaller bonuses in the year for a big success. Again, make sure to include the whole team ==== My LIFE: ➡️ In Professional life my a Chief Information Officer (CIO) / IT Director and my professional life's passion is to help my organization achieve bigger goals by adding values, digital empowerment, transforming the business model. ➡️ In my personal life's passion meet as many many possible people, solve their problem, and also help, guide them to achieve bigger goals in their life. #JohnMasudParvez #CIO #Founder #President Feeling hurt and sad when you’ve failed to achieve something, regardless of how big or small it may be, is only natural and there’s little point in dwelling on past failures. Nowadays people put too much effort into avoiding failure and this does nothing apart from lead to painful situations. Today we’ll be discussing 9 of the most useful ways to overcome the pain of failure that’ll help you shift your focus toward moving on with your life. ➡️ 1. Don’t Feel Threatened By Failure Have you ever heard the saying, “Once a failure, always a failure?” Unfortunately, too many people tend to take this literally to the point where they start thinking they’ll never succeed again. Such negative thoughts serve to do nothing but hold you back. Once this mindset takes over, you’ll be crippled by an overwhelming fear of failure that’ll prevent you from reaching your full potential. If you’re to move forward and lead a fulfilling life, you’ve got to overcome such thoughts and replace them with positive ones. ➡️ 2. There is Nothing Wrong with Feeling Bad When you fail to achieve your goals, deep feelings of anxiety, sadness, shame, and anger take over – it’s only natural. In fact, you could go as far as saying it’s important to feel hurt after a failure. Rather than forcefully suppressing these feelings and emotions, use them to your advantage. Instead of feeling bad and wallowing in your own self-pity, Use these feelings as your drive to do better and to improve future performance. ➡️ 3. Develop Healthy Habits to Stay Healthy If you haven’t already, start a healthy habit. Go for walks, practice breathing exercises, take a bubble bath, meet with family and friends; anything that keeps your mind clear and free from negative thoughts. Draw up a list of healthy habits or activities that you might enjoy, decide on a few that you like and make an effort to practice them on a regular basis. Who knows, one of these healthy habits might even be the secret to your success! ➡️ 4. Avoid Picking Up Bad Habits Sometimes, people turn to things like drugs or alcohol in an attempt to dull the pain that they feel. Ultimately, drug and alcohol addiction will just make things worse and do more harm than good. It’s best to avoid picking up such bad habits and instead focus on learning skills that can help you heal in a healthier way. ➡️ 5. Take Reasonable Responsibility for Your Failure Pretending that something isn’t true or ignoring the true reason behind why things turned out the way they did is counterproductive and will never make up for what really happened. In the same way that taking too much responsibility can make you feel restless and create unnecessary tension, not taking responsibility for your actions will stop you from learning from your mistakes. Don’t make excuses for your failures. ➡️ 6. Study Yourself Many people feel disheartened after a failure, while many others take failures as an opportunity to learn about and improve themselves. Where do you fit in? What mistakes have you made? ➡️ 7. Keep Looking Ahead Don’t get stuck focusing on the things that went wrong. Thinking about the same thing over and over again won’t do you any good. While reflection on past failures is necessary, planning your next move and moving on is even more important. ➡️ 8. Take Inspiration from Failures that Led to Success History is filled with stories of men and women who’ve all failed at some point in their lives but went on to become major successes in their respective areas. The one thing these people all had in common was that they didn’t let their failures stop them from experimenting and trying out new things. ➡️ 9. Learn to Accept Your Failures Running away from failures or trying to avoid them will never teach you anything. Go beyond your comfort zone, explore new avenues, don’t think about the rejection that you may face and come to terms with the fact that you too can fail. As you move ahead in life, you will come to realize that failure is simply a part of life – the sooner you start treating failures as learning opportunities, the sooner you’ll reach your full potential. #JohnMasudParvez #CIO #Founder #President A manager is a person who is accountable for “managing” the company. It requires learning new project management skills and taking on different project manager responsibilities. Bad managers bard orders, as Mark Graban said in his articles. “They are directive and tell employees what to do, without any explanation or context.” “A bad manager makes you work, a good manager lets you work.” “A good manager follows the 3 ships of management: Leadership, Mentorship, Ambassadorship.” Leadership involves creating decisions such as which projects to choose. Mentorship is an efficient way to grow a team in ways that are mutually beneficial. Ambassadorship means representing the team within the broader socio-political context of your organization. A good manager is seen by what it manages, if it is a successful enterprise, then it means it has good management managed by a good manager. A manager manages time and money, they are the gatekeepers taking an organization from where they are to where they want to be. Let’s see what makes a good manager. #JohnMasudParvez #CIO #Founder #President ➡️ Understand the strengths of each individual It’s likely that your new employees will have come from a variety of backgrounds. They'll have different personalities and therefore different ideas about how to do their jobs. ➡️ Explain your business vision Start by setting the scene for your employees. Let them know what they're aiming for and help them to understand the goals of your company. ➡️ Talk about the culture you want to build Plant the seeds of your business culture in your workers' minds so it grows and flourishes. Get them excited about being part of the team and the environment. ➡️ Describe your future plans Create a vision of where your team should be, six months, a year and two years from now. Use your accounting software to draw up realistic financial forecasts and share these with your employees. ➡️ Explain the environment of customers, prospects and partners Use diagrams if necessary to show the interaction between all the people around your company. ➡️ Use 'we' instead of 'I' when talking about your business It's a common startup mistake to associate yourself with your business, but if you want your employees to feel part of a team then you'll need to include them too. ➡️ Get your employees involved It's important to quickly get your employees involved in the day-to-day running of your business. Keep them active and use their strengths to help them integrate and develop. ➡️ Give them tasks right away ➡️ Help your employees to push themselves. Use time lines or specific goals (with their input) for them to strive for. ➡️ Acknowledge their successes ➡️ Use the carrot, not just the stick. Always reward success with praise. ➡️ Mentor your new hires ➡️ Partner your new employees with someone senior on the team. The more mentoring you do, the faster your team will take shape. ➡️ Define roles clearly ➡️ Everyone needs to know their job – what's expected of them and what's not. If you don't make this clear, the morale of your employees will suffer, and progress and efficiency will be affected. ➡️ Consider team-building exercises Small businesses are often fast-paced environments. That means you need to get your team working together quickly. Team-building exercises can help, but there are some important points to consider: ➡️ Budget carefully Days off work will cost you money in terms of lost productivity, plus the cost of the team-building event itself. Good accounting software will keep your accounts up to date, so you can see at a glance what you can afford. ➡️ Don't forget the simple things Something as low key as providing drinks and snacks for the last hour of a Friday afternoon might work well. Not everyone wants to crawl through undergrowth in camouflage clothing. ➡️ Recognize the value of diversity ➡️ Complementary skill sets can mean contrasting personalities. For example (as a general rule only), sales people tend to be extroverts while programrs and developers tend to be more introverted. That reflects the type of person drawn to each role and also the demands of the role itself. ➡️ Trying to 'fix' these differences so everyone's the same will not work. In fact it's likely to backfire badly. At best you'll annoy your employees, at worst you'll breach diversity and equality legislation. ➡️ Extend your team beyond your business ➡️ Ask guest speakers to meet with your team ➡️ Invite customers and key partners to staff meetings ➡️ Have a team coach Consider using the services of someone who can provide real-time ➡️ Let your team know that you value them This is important and quite straightforward. You simply have to take an interest in your staff. ➡️ Show them you care ➡️ Give them the support and tools they need to be successful. This could include things like a healthy working environment, a supportive team or the right software or technical equipment. ➡️ Celebrate the little victories! ➡️ Reward every success, no matter how small it might seem. The goodwill generated will pay you back many times over. Be positive and stay positive ➡️ Don't lose your cool or lose control, as that will set a bad impression and affect morale. ➡️ Identify problems early ➡️ Understand negative team dynamics ➡️ Use your people skills to build your team ==== My LIFE: ➡️ In Professional life my a Chief Information Officer (CIO) / IT Director and my professional life's passion is to help my organization achieve bigger goals by adding values, digital empowerment, transforming the business model. ➡️ In my personal life's passion meet as many many possible people, solve their problem, and also help, guide them to achieve bigger goals in their life. #JohnMasudParvez #CIO #Founder #President Digital business is changing the way organizations use technology, moving it from a supporting role to a leading player in innovation and productivity. It represents a revolution; the digital revolution, an essential switch that can transform companies greatly. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Semiannual Digital Transformation Spending Guide, digital spending will reach almost $2 trillion by 2022 with companies allocating 10% of their revenue to digital strategies. This figures show us that companies are recognizing the relevance of digital transformation. Everyone wants and needs to go digital. But which way to go? We have identified six critical steps that will help managers to build an outstanding digital enterprise. ➡️ Digitize your operations Businesses who have not embraced automation, cloud computing, and mobile enablement will not be able to remain relevant in this ever changing marketplace. By implementing digitization strategists, companies can improve accessibility and facilitate better information exchange for staff and users and increase efficiency and productivity. Digitisation can give your business a competitive advantage and improving the efficiency of processes and quality. ➡️ Create the right mindset To set up a successful digital business, business leaders must think of technology in a proactive way and focusing on competitive advantage. Companies must identify the resources they need to create an ecosystem that can help developing successful projects. ➡️ Define digital business roles Digital business does not only involve implementing and using technology. Actually, many organizations do not have the right roles to face new digital business challenges. To become a successful digital enterprise, HR executives and managers must rethink their quest for talent, opening new approaches that can widen access to talented people. ➡️ Create a digital business strategy A digital business strategy is a plan for maximizing the benefits of technology-focused initiatives that will help you to analyse and reach your business objectives whilst measuring your successes and failures. To implement a successful one, you need a cross-functional team with executive leadership, marketing and information technology (IT) members. ➡️ Develop the team and knowledge to execute the strategy Digital business is not an IT program but an enterprise mindset. Underestimating the expertise and competence required to develop a digital business can have negative consequences. ➡️ Create new digital business channels Companies should launch innovative learning programs, use the new technologies in order to distribute the work more effectively and develop channels.
